I’m very new to buying bitcoin and using it for purchases.
I downloaded bitcoin.com app and bought some there, it took a day or two to figure it out but I was able to send my bitcoin immediately.
Then I downloaded Coinbase because I thought I needed it and when I bought bitcoin, it said I had to wait 12-14 days before I could send it at all.
Is this normal? Or should I use something different to be able to send btc immediately?

Once your account is established, Coinbase will typically let you send up to $1000 worth immediately after purchasing, and the remainder is kept on hold and released ~7 days later.

Old head here so this may sound stupid. I’m familiar with cashapp but not the whole bitcoin wallet. Are you saying you can buy bitcoin with the cashapp tied to whatever card and then send it to a wallet not as linked to you and then send it from there? If so what’s a solid wallet for beginners with decent OPSEC

i usually just send it straight through cashapp too honestly sending it to an external wallet never even crossed my mind. so were both retarded. you can set up an external wallet on like blockchain thatd probably be fine.

Definitely it is a bad idea to send crypto from coinbase to any vendor. Always send first to an anonymous third party wallet. Sure, you might get away with it a few times but google "coinbase cancelled my account" to see how many people lost their account due to "suspicious activity". Also, if you link your bank account to coinbase they will give you a USD wallet where you can transfer funds and leave them parked there not subject to crypto fluctuations. Once those funds have cleared you can use them to instantly buy and send crypto. This is separate from your btc wallet there which obviously is where your btc will first show when you buy it.

I've bought a ton of shit with my Coinbase and never had an issue. You guys worry too much. I buy enough for a cycle and use it all up in 3-4 months. Who cares if they trace back were my coins went. There's no gear at the house anyways.

The issue is not gear at your house. The issue is losing your coinbase account which would be hard to replace. At least now if you become one of the unlucky many whom that happens to I won't feel guilty for not having warned you that it is a real thing. Best of luck to you. To clarify, if coinbase sees coin going to a recipient that they deem to be questionable such as Missiles for Moscow (silly example I know) then they cancel the account first rather than giving the owner the opportunity to justify the send.
