So don't laugh.... But I'm mega hairy so I've never visually noticed how much larger my right pec is compared to my left.

Not until last night massaging my chest did I suddenly realize this, were talking what feels like a whole damn cup size lol. Also my traps are imbalanced but I've always known that, I've always pinned that to being in the trades and favoring my right side.

Question for y'all, have you ever been able to fix an imbalance, and if so would something like an extra 3-4 sets added to the left side each chest day be sufficient in time? Also how long did it take?

I've just started a cycle so I figure "hey perfect timing to fix a muscle thing". It's gonna be a long one because EQ and orals randomly throughout.

Should I add the extra sets and also add in some more on say deadlift or OHP days? Kinda wish I figured this out sooner so it wasn't such a gap lol

Adding in isolation movements or one sided movements and starting with your weaker side first helps a lot, then just rep match with your stronger side

A few extra sets wouldn’t hurt either

Example:
My left hamstring is weaker than my right hamstring. So I’ll do lying hamstring curls with only one leg at a time—start with my left side and do as many as I can, rep match with my right side, then in the same set I’ll go back to my left side and might be able to squeeze out another few reps since it had a short time to recover while I was doing reps with the right. It’s helped kind of rebalance the strength a little more. Then I might throw in an extra set with just my left side

The funny thing is that my right side is my weak side... So that's fun. I've started adding extra reps on the left, and a a couple sets of chest presses at the end of my other workouts. We'll see what happens

Mentally I've had to work on some movements like squats. I noticed a significant imbalance between my left and right legs, probably due to a serious leg injury I had as a teenager.

The imbalance has improved significantly, but I still need to maintain focus during heavy squats to make sure I'm not favoring one side. Old habits...

Fwiw Jeff Nippard used to recommend single leg exercises, like with leg extensions, to prevent one dominant leg from doing more of the heavy lifting.

I don't know if that helps much because it still doesn't control rep speed/power etc. Maybe a few more reps with the weaker side is a better route.

I had a left pec strain and didn't do anything special after it recovered. No noticeable difference in strength or muscle size after it recovered. Back to regular chest exercises.
