So the callus’s on my hands are starting to really hurt while doing my lift routine. Anyone have any suggestions as i hate wearing gloves.

Have you tried not being a little bitch? See if that works.

Three things you can do :
Use a nail file and file those callouses down
Or my preferred method , get in the shower run your hands under the hot water for a bit and use a razor (Gillette,BIC , whatever ) and shave them down . As a powerlifter this is a must for me because massive callouses will grab knurling and tear off which is a complete bitch to recover from.
Or you could take door #3 and just suck it up

You might be grabbing the barbell wrong. Make sure it’s at the connection of finger and palm and not buried in your palms. When you bury it the callouses tend to roll and rip b/c there’s more meat there vs your fingers

You might be right dude, todays my off day but i just might go hit a few just to see if it helps or not. I was doing seated shrugs yesterday and thats when it really started to hurt.

i think you can go to a nail place and they will file that shit down… they can also paint your nails pink if you’re into that kind of thing.

Why can’t you just use straps or versa gripps until they heal up? If you’re not a competitive powerlifter there’s really no need for you force yourself to tear calluses or anything like that (even if you were, it’s counter productive to have torn up/painful hands in training, and often people will still train strapped to allow their hands to heal up).

Go to Target, go to the nail/beauty section. They actually sell a callus razor for like $4-5 and it comes with a couple extra razor blades. They also sell a callus file, which looks like a very fine metal cheese grater on a handle, this is another $4. I own both, shave it, then sand it down, I got these tools two years ago and they still work perfectly fine today. Takes 5 minutes every few weeks.

The calluses never really go away but they are manageable.
