Heavy metals are in everything we consume. Look at the FDA recommendation for tuna consumption no more than one can a week due to mercury levels in the fish in the ocean. Yet people can consume cans a day for years on end with no effect. People smoke cigarettes which are littered with them and even more toxins, yet often die from lung cancer not heavy metal poisoning. Point being is that there is bad shit in everything, the human body is a resilient entity.
Hey brother you are totally right with this, however there are brands like Wild Planet that catch their fish in cleaner spots. Don’t quote me because I am going from memory right now and we all know how tricky our memory can be, but I remember reading somewhere that it’s the areas that these fish are caught that plays the role in things like mercury poisoning, and it’s actually not as common as we are lead to believe. The warnings of metals in our fish especially canned is expressed more because of a liability then anything else. But the risk for poisoning is still their. I really do think it has to do with where they are caught because most of the pollution gets to the bottom of the ocean where these bottom feeders are caught like sardines for example. I know one hundred percent that mercury poisoning is possible, but I have never gotten it and I eat sushi, canned tuna, canned salmon, canned sardines, canned mackerel frequently. I have never had my plasma levels tested though so I cannot say for sure whether or not their have been heavy metals in my food, but I also have never felt sick from eating that stuff daily. There are a few celebrities that have spoken about being diagnosed with mercury poisoning from eating sushi everyday, Jeremy Piven I believe was one. But, again I really think it’s where these fishes are caught, because from my experience when I was working at a gym there was this amazing sushi place next door that gave us major discounts because we brought them so much business so I would eat sushi literally two to three times a day at least 6 Days a week, never had a problem. I felt great. Seeing all my college friends going for the Raman noodles to save time and money that scared me more than me eating two to 4 cans of tuna a day honestly. I rolled the dice and I I have been lucky I guess.
