Megestrol Experiences? Low Appetite

Hey guys, I’m a pretty small guy (170lbs 13%BF 5’11) and I have always had trouble eating over 2500 cals a day all my life. Its a struggle just to eat 2500 let alone 3000 or 3500 that i need to be eating, or more. I’m thinking about trying Megestrol 40mg a day. Can anyone here chime in that has tried this drug or do you guys have any other recommendations for meds that would help? My appetite is really holding me back!

Force feed, add in more shakes. Find stuff that’s easy for you to eat when your not even hungry. Get the calories in any means necessary.

It’s hard eating additional protein sometimes when you’re trying to get it all from meat/whole sources. That’s where shakes come into play. Really helps get you over the top on protein as well as calories in general if you are trying to or, unfortunately, if you’re not careful.

Mix your shake with milk for extra calories/protein. Even more calories and/or need it to taste a little better? Add some coffee creamer. Little sweeter, little creamier, and more calories (the bad kind, but cals are cals).

I have the same problem, not having a big appetite any more so I make protein shakes. I add all or some, liquid egg whites, peanut butter, Greek yogurt. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt with nuts, pecans mostly. I don’t eat often, but ice-cream. I can eat these things even when I’m not hungry. Eat before bed. Eat a shake in the middle of the night…

If you can id just get baked tbh. You dont need to be high all day but near the end when you have your shit done and its time to relax get high and smash food
Or make homemade shakes (peanut butter, oats, whey, 2% milk, coconut oil’ bananas etc…)
Eat more red meats
Man the fuck up too lol, if you have trouble eating over 2500 you’re gonna have problems man. You can take all the drugs in the world but if you dont eat you wont go anywhere

Never used megestrol but would like to hear users experiences

One of my favorite “gainer” recipes is 1/3 natural peanut butter, 1/3 unsweetened dates, and 1/3 rolled oats all blended together in water. I will do up to 3 servings of each which accounts for about 1,440 calories. It’s quick, cheap, and doesn’t taste half bad. And you get a ton of carbs. Excellent for bulking. Just remember to keep equal parts for each item.

I like MRE from Redcon, as long as you can get it for like sub $60. It’s an easy 500cal when I fuck my meals up from getting too busy.

Anyone tried Periactin (Cyproheptadine) ?? It’s supposed to be an antihistamine that is prescribed for appetite stimulation with less side effects than megestrol

Why don’t y’all just use GHRP and get the added GH benefits instead of adding some additional pharma which adds potential drug interaction issues depending on what else you’re taking.

Also if you can’t even eat enough to not be a 5’11" scarecrow, what are your gear related goals?

EDIT: Was thinking about this while I was meal prepping for this week. We gon fix you boy.

What do you eat every day, exactly? I can say “It’s fucking cake to eat 2500cal before noon”, but then I remembered fucking a million years ago when it wasn’t and I had to literally force myself to chew bite after bite to hit my daily goal and it was fucking torture day after day after day.

I’ve been fucking with the vertical diet and I really think that it could be useful for people like you have have a hard time eating enough, because the food is all crazy easy to eat and it’s easily scaled when you need to bump up or down.

I would say with a mix of changing up your eating strategy along with some mental fortitude you can make this happen for yourself without extra unnecessary pharma. Just my 2ccs.

It might be obvious, but learning what foods kill your appetite and slow down your eating or digestion. For me, milk adds calories to a shake, but it kills my appetite and slows down the time it takes me to finish the shake from 10 minutes to 1 hour.

Disclaimer: unpopular opinion from somebody who has always been in the same boat as the OP (naturally lean/slim, low appetite, general dissatisfaction from eating)

If your appetite is holding you back and you are lean + in good health you should really consider utilizing things like fast food/pizza. For example, you can get 15 boneless chicken wings from wing stop, buffalo wild wings, hooters, etc. and get roughly 100 grams of protein and 1.2k+ calories from just that meal alone. Throw a fries and soda alongside it and you’re easily at 1600+ calories in just that one meal. Whole pizza with meat toppings = 1500-2000+ calories, 100g+ protein. McDonald’s triple cheeseburger = 500+ calories 35? grams of protein in each burger. The list is endless. It may not be the most healthy, but neither are steroids, and if you are trying to put on size while using steroids but are unable to eat sufficient calories, you’re doing yourself harm for no gain since you can’t build muscle without adequate calories + protein. Throwing in a meal of fast food to replace one of your current ones could be a huge difference maker if you’re currently eating meals that are 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 the calories of the fast food. Without fast food I would be far more miserable trying to get in my calories/protein. Obviously this can’t be carried into prep or something, but if you’re bulking and in good health, IMO you’re only doing yourself a disservice by not giving “dirty” food a try.
