Old man complains about dumb youth

the same old story: where the hell have all these idiots with r/steroids/bodybuilding daily thread questions and meso grammar come from in the last month or two? has this board been linked in such places a lot lately? my nostalgia tells me just 3 months ago any single dumb thread stuck out like a sore thumb and discussion was pleasant and smart, now it’s hardly distinguishable from the aforementioned places, and SST was supposed to be a sanctuary away from that hell.

I don’t think it’s to do with the moderation, and being kind to these kids will bring more to the yard, while being brash is overly condescending and won’t do them much good either.

Eh, we’re not Meso. It’s not that hard to be nice to people on the internet. If they hang around here long enough they’ll turn into one of us and in 3 years one of them will make a post complaining about all the new idiots on the board . As a fellow old dude I’ve found a lot of freedom in letting the idiots be idiots until they figure it out. Not worth my energy getting upset over it.

Yeah you think so? There’s always a few in the crowd anywhere you go, and as this place grows in size, so does the number of dickbags. I dunno.

But yeah trying to be overly edgy or douchey is pretty gay, but I try not to pay it much attention. Now those other places you mentioned…they annoy me. I still visit r/steroids daily, there’s good convo in there sometimes. But way too much “you shouldn’t even THINK about doing steroids bro”. That shit is lame

I kinda feel like calling dumbasses dumbasses will do 1 of 2 things.

1. They will fuck off with their dumb shit
2. Learn to Google before posting dumb shit and looking like idiots in front of everyone

Either one I am fine with.

I dont know everything there is about gear, but I’m also not so lazy that I wont look for shit on my own (google) or have a private conversation with someone that does know more than me (some fine folks here or sources).

I’ve noticed a few brainless threads lately that blew my mind. I think it’s a result of all this social media fitness bullshit…every idiot out there wants to start lifting and juicing to be the next Bradley Martyn or whatever lame they’re following on insta. When I started juicing you had to put some effort in to acquire these substances and have the wherewithal to learn from the vets around and research the rest. Maybe I’m just becoming old and senile…

Idk man, it doesn’t bother me personally, and if anything I enjoy helping those who need it most. I like to keep the shit talking for Reddit and stay as civil + helpful as possible on here. Who knows, maybe that new ‘dumb’ member will become a frequent user/contributor as years pass and he becomes more knowledgeable/experienced.

I just put myself in their shoes and remember when I was a little potato first starting to use. I wanted nothing more than for experienced users with respectable results to help answer my questions rather than expecting me to read some “wiki” which could have been written by some random joe schmoe without respectable results/experience (aka the retarded mods on r/steroids who look natural). It feels far more credible (and is far more reassuring) when somebody answers your question(s) directly.

If I’m being 100% real, what bothers me more is the name calling and lashing out at these people. To me that’s “meso” behavior and has no place on here. Take your anger/frustration/annoyance out on a bunch of geeky Redditors instead of those who share similar interests as you and are only seeking your help/advice (even if their questions may be dumb). On this board we all already share a mutual hobby/interest and are more like one another than the typical dude is, we should be trying to bond with one another and develop a healthy place for like-minded individuals to come and learn, talk, or ask questions.
