Q: Do the dry peptides need to be stored in the fridge/freezer?A: Our manufacturer informed us that: “For the activity, there would be no noticeable effect for 1-2 weeks at 25-30°C. We have done some testing at 25°C and 60% humidity (accelerated testing) for IGFLR3 and no effect on activity was seen, even after 12 months. In addition, peptides are shorter molecules than the proteins so they are less prone to degradation and denaturation so the data would be similar.” In other words, the unreconstituted vials will be fine at room temperature, in a dry environment. Q: Sometimes when I pull the needle out of the pep vial a bunch of solution squirts out. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?
A: It’s normal, but you can avoid it by equalizing the pressure in the vial with the outside. Pull the plunger out of a syringe and stick the needle in there, you should hear a small “whoosh” if the pressure gradient was high. This is best done immediately after reconstitution, but can be done at any time.
Also, if you’re drawing just from that vial, you can push in an amount of air equal to what you’re going to withdraw so that the pressure stays the same.
