Starting Accutane, prescribed by derm

My derm is starting me on Accutane tomorrow, 40mg/daily. She knows I'm on the sauce. I occasionally get some cystic acne type flare-ups that are a PITA to treat that pop up in my cheek area, forehead, sometimes chin. They never go away, are painful ,and just kill my self confidence. Who else on here has experiences with Accutane? I read that taking an antihistamine can help control the "purging" stage. I plan on adding an antihistamine into my routine. What else should I expect? I know of dry skin, dry lips, some aches/soreness, etc. Just wanted to see what experiences yall may have on here with Accutane? Thanks!!

I’m on it. Started at 20mg a day. Went to 40mg a day then went to 60mg a day. 60mg a day was too much for me. My face was red 24/7 and I ended up getting rashes on my arms while using soap in the shower from the dryness.

So I switched back to 30mg a day.

It took away the active pimples but did nothing for scars. I am not sure if my scars will ever go away.

They are purple now and I am white as a ghost

Only side effect was the dryness at the high dose

Thanks for this info! Yeah, I have a couple scars, but nothing too crazy along those lines. Did you go through much of a purging stage? How about hair thinning/hair loss? I read all types of stuff on Reddit lol

I purged for the first two months.

I never noticed any hair loss or thinning. That’s probably if you’re taking a high dose for months straight.

20mg-30mg a day isn’t going to do anything to your hair.

People on Reddit say Arimidex is poison but have no problem injecting tren. They are a special breed over there. I wouldn’t listen to anyone on Reddit
