This may be a stupid question but yesterday I got an email in my Tutanota account saying “VERIFY ACCOUNT NOW 2019” and today I got another saying “CUSTOMER CARE UPDATE NOW”. I’ve only been on SST and Tutanota for a few months but I’ve got these emails before saying I needed to verify my account and I’ve done it.
However, when I started doing these ones I noticed that the first had referenced an incorrect email address to a proton mail account that I don’t recognize and it redirects me a domain first showing “bitly.com” and then showing “mnjengineering.com.pk” and at that point my computer identified it as a possible deceptive or malicious site with that big red screen.
I dont remember this ever happening before so I just wanna know if this is normal before I get fucked?

Sounds like someone is trying to phish you. Never got those emails on any of my addresses. And the url would direct you to their website not some random named site

You can Facebook message Tutanota with a screenshots and they’ll verify if it’s legit or not, which if basically never is. They’ll also give you an email address to forward it to so that they can do whatever it is to do to stop them from sending out more emails

I get these every once in a while. The sender address always has a ! To the side of it which is a dead giveaway. Just don’t click them.

Yeah, fuck, they do have an exclamation mark next to them and so do the ones form the past months. I never even noticed that little mark. It’s at the top right of the screen and it’s right before the “SHOW MORE” link. When I click on “SHOW MORE” it says:

“The technical sender is different than the email address in ‘From’. As ‘From’ can be faked, the technical sender is also displayed to understand who actually sent this email.”

And so now I can see the actual sender and its this bullshit:
[email protected]

Man, I feel like a real dumbfuck now. Ever since I switched from PC to Mac, I’ve become less careful with my computer protection. (I know, stupid logic) Ok, so I’ll email Tutanota now. I went back and looked and I’m now 100% certain I’ve never responded to any of those with my current passwords. I would just click on them and when it redirected me I would just close it out. Sorry, this is the first time I’ve had a problem like this that I know of. Thanks for the responses everyone.

They are phishing scams. Check the sending address and that will explain it all. Don’t click on the links and just delete and ignore em.

To be safe I’d run a virus scan just as a precaution.
