URGENT: Need help raising hemoglobin and ferritin levels

New member
I have microcytic anemia (smaller than normal red blood cells)
Hence the low MCV MCH MCHC
My RBC is high
Hemoglobin is borderline low
Ferritin is low

I’ve been taking iron supps with b12 and folic acid but they’ve just been increasing my RBC count and not my hemoglobin or ferritin. I heard some great things about beef liver supplements being effective for raising hemoglobin as they contain actual HEME IRON.

@kingofcarbz I remember you saying you recommend I try out beverly international ultra 40. I am considering it. Just wondering if you have more insight or personal experience taking it?

Anyone else feel free to help a microcytic anemic brother out.

My doctor prescribed me iron supplements which were ineffective. I’ve been experimenting with different iron supplements however they’ve only been able to raise my RBC further and not the hemoglobin or ferritin.

how long and how much are you blasting?
600mg Test E it’s been 9 weeks so far. You would expect it to raise my hemoglobin but it hasn’t lol. My RBC count has been high before I started blasting from the iron supps. I just want to raise my hemoglobin and ferritin man.

If you intend on trying a beef liver supplement that is 100% the brand to go with from my perspective. They have a great reputation and have been around for ages. I’ve been using it for years now, and they contain a decent amount of protein too which is a nice addition for sure. You are correct about them containing high amounts of heme iron and being a better alternative to traditional iron supplements.

Might want to drop that test dose down since you really probably wouldn’t want to donate with those numbers. How were you diagnosed with that anemia? Have you ever been tested for celiac disease?

My ferritin has been down to 8 before. I had a few iron infusions done.

research root cause protocol. it is a miracle supplementation protocol. do it consistently for 4 weeks and then get bloods, GUARANTEE you will be fixed my doode

You can try taking your daily iron with ascorbic acid - helps with absorption. If you have a persistent microcytosis and low ferritin despite iron supplementation, however, I would consider a slow, occult GI bleed (IE - colonoscopy, EGD may be necessary) depending your age and your family history. Also, as noted above, celiac disease is a consideration if you are manifesting other related symptoms.

TLDR; your counts look fine, but if continued, appropriate iron supplementation doesn’t alter your ferritin level, consider either issues with absorption (celiac disease, other GI diseases - normally these are obvious) vs consumptive process (slow bleed). Chat with your doc.

@“kingofcarbz” Purchased yesterday. Took 4 last night and 4 with my breakfast today. I feel FUCKING AMAZING. Thank you so much man. I will have blood work done in a few weeks to see how things are looking.

I JUST DONATED BLOOD THIS AFTERNOON. Hematocrit was a 39 smh. My doctor said I have borderline iron deficiency anemia but it’s clear I have microcytic anemia from my blood work. I don’t experience the major symptoms associated with celiac disease. Only fatigue is my major symptom. No abdominal pain, etc.

Thanks for informing me about this protocol. There is some good information here. Will definitely implement.

I don’t manifest any of the symptoms associated with celiac disease other than fatigue. I will run the colonoscopy and EGD by my doc to see what she thinks.

My bloodwork looked very similar to yours for a couple years before I was diagnosed. I didn’t really have any bad gut symptoms either, but my celiac blood test numbers were through the roof and biopsy showed partial to complete intestinal damage.

What king of test did you get. Did you get a celiac disease antibody profile test?

Yeah, and my antibody blood test came back 11x over normal. They were sure I had it just from the bloodwork, but they usually do an upper endoscopy with biopsy after to confirm it, which they did.

Get an IV Iron infusion. It’s a simply 15 minute procedure where they infuse iron supplements directly into your bloodstream. Tell your doctor you only want the newest product on the market however, the older Dextran based products can cause anaphylactic reactions. They also take way longer to infuse.

Just tell him you want an infusion and you’ll be back to normal in about 3-4 weeks. That’s the only way to really improve your TSAT and ferritin stores. If you have commercial insurance you’ll. E fine.

Proferrin ES. Buy it off Amazon. It’s expensive, but it works. Getting out of that hole will take a while, though.

Have you taken it before? Any sides? Constipation, etc.

Just curious what kind of treatment do you take for this?

THIS. My girlfriend has issues absorbing iron orally, so she needs infusions. This is the only real way to do this right (and legally). Hers does take 2 hours, but she doesn’t do it too often…

I wonder if Anadrol could help here as it was designed (and still used) as an anti-anemic drug, but without the raw material for hemoglobin (Iron), I don’t know how well it would work…just a thought experiment.

Is the IV option something to consider for somebody who doesn’t know the root cause of their low iron? Mine isn’t scary low, and never has been but I would want it to be in the normal range for sure. I noticed some improvement (from like 34-39, normal being 45 - rough estimates) with the beef liver over the span of like 6 months, but it’s remained in that range for a while and that boost from where it was could be related to other factors too. I’ve ran Anadrol multiple times and my iron hasn’t been within range and my RBC/hematocrit never elevated beyond the normal range. Very open to speaking with my GP about it but she’s quite clueless so I want to know what I’m getting into. Is there any risk/downside involved with the IV treatment? Any info. is greatly appreciated
