Anyone have an injectable carnitine recipe?

Anyone here have an injectable carnitine recipe? What’s the maximum dosage you can suspend per ml of water? I see that vet grade holds 200mg/ml but I was hoping to get something closer to 500mg/ml because frankly, injecting 5ml of liquid a day isn’t an easy feat haha. I want to run 1g of the stuff per day. Here is my current recipe:

Carnitine recipe

• Distilled water
• 0.9% BA
• 5% Polysorbate 80
  400mg/ml Carnitine

10g Carnitine in 25ml

Benzyl Acohol: (0.09 x 25)= .225ml x density (1.04g/ml) = 2.34g
Polysorbate 80: (0.05 x 25) = 1.25ml x density (1.08g/ml) = 1.35g
Distilled Water: 25ml - .225ml - 1.25ml = 23.525ml = 23.525g

Make into fine powder, then mix all of the components and microwave it on low power in a beaker. Draw liquid into big syringe, attach syringe filter to syringe and then fill 100ml vial.

I brew it at 400mg/ml with just distilled water, BA, and l-carnitine. It has a bit of a bite at that concentration, but it isn’t that bad.

Thank you. Who are you sourcing your Carnitine from? My understanding is that for an injection, a very high purity >99.8% is necessary, however, I could be wrong. I will obviously be using a syringe filter.

I just used a bulk powder vendor. There’s fewer options for l-carnitine base.

0.9% Benzyl Alcohol
Sterile Water for Injection (from Mountainside Med)
Carnitine Base (Pure Bulk)

One thing that a lot of people don’t calculate is the volume displacement for the carnitine powder. I double filtered. One pass through a 0.45 micron then a second through a 0.22. I’ve also used Synthetine in the past, and it is a total crap and overpriced product.

Can you link me? Every vendor I’ve found is either pushing Acetyl-L-Carnitine or questionably pure L-Carnitine.

Did yours come out clear or is it slightly cloudy? I made mine at 400mg/ml and filtered but still looks slightly cloudy not like clean water.

Mine came out crystal clear once filtered. The recipe I followed had Benzyl Benzoate, which frankly I don’t think did a damn thing. I won’t be adding it again.

I’ve never needed it for L-Car suspensions.
