So watching this with my GF. The doctor requires them to lose 50lbs in a month to show him they are willing to do something in order to get the weight loss surgery. And MOST of these people GAIN weight in that month. Like at that weight…all you literally have to do is not stuff your face all day to lose 50lbs. These people normally end up gaining weight and then blame it on everything else but themselves. Shit drives me insane!
Anyone else? Lol

I’ve seen it before. Tbh, it makes me a bit sad, so I don’t watch it to much. Just watching these people that are so stuck in their ways; like they know they need to lose weight, but they literally can’t stop drinking multiple 2 liters of soda and bags on bags of chips everyday. It is just sad to see these people with such little willpower, almost like it is sapping my motivation; I can see how it can be someone’s guilty pleasure though, or even how it can help motivate some people.

I watched one where a guy couldn’t lose weight even after being told his weight was extremely dangerous for him, and he ended up dying. Shit, that was sad.

Wow, I just went to look up the episode I watched with the guy dying, and see that a few people on the show have diet. Fuck man.

It is sad man. And I do feel bad for them. Cause there’s no way I could ever eat myself to that size. So it’s gotta be a genetic thing. But you would think they would get to a certain point and say. Fuck! I need to stop this. And that point for me would be way before I’m bed ridden and have to have people sponge bath me. But they are given an opportunity for the surgery and all they have to do is lose 50lbs in a month. And many of them don’t or gain more weight. The doc doesn’t play around though or sugar coat anything. That’s what they need.

Makes me sad too. I think there is certainly a genetic component, however the binge eating on a daily basis is certainly the biggest issue. I just can’t umagine eating myself to the point of not being able to shower or shit without assistance. I mean these people are living in their own trap… and how do they afford to live and eat like that without working? They must have assistance from govt and family?

That show actually pisses me off.i really HATE obese people that blame everyone else because those fat pieces of shit can’t stop eating 12k calories a day. None of them have jobs. Though the episodes where people succeed make me tear up a little bit. I either end up crying tears of joy for them or I’m about to punch a hole through my wall since they are so annoying

They also link it to an addiction. Like a drug habit, they have what is called over eaters anonymous. These people have addictions where they just eat their feelings away like others would do with drugs or alcohol. So they are trying to classify it with a disease and it is not that easy to break.

at first I hated this show, made me sad and sort of disgusted, but later I started enjoying it. Some people really turn it around and succeed. Shows the struggle is real AF.

This show is good, but Intervention on A&E is waaaaaaaay better and even more sad/exciting to watch.

The vibes remind me of that show Hoarders, like a trainwreck that I can’t look away

I’m sure it’s part addiction and part genetic, but the enabling family members drive me crazy. A lot of these people can’t drive let alone leave their houses and rely on their family/friends to give them food.

If I didn’t lift I’d be on that show! Seriously though I eat like 7500 a day on a bulk. Thank God for Tren and GH!

Enabling family members are the worst but it’s hard to watch a family member “suffer” from something and not feel inclined to help.

That being said - I don’t believe that addiction is a disease but more likely a symptom/side effect of poorly managed/mismanaged mental health. These people are fucked off upstairs and eating is a vice. It makes them feel better but you could say the same for compulsive masturbation sufferers. I mean sure, a good wank is great but beating your dick to a pulp day in and day out isn’t a disease. You’ve got some other things wrong that make you want to punch the clown to feel better.

Idk where I stand at the moment. I believe that addiction and dependency are two differint though. like how in dependent on THC at the moment but I’m tapering down and off. Not addicted, dependent and a little autistic? Absolutely.

The whole “I need THAT FUCKIN drug and I’ll do anything to get it” is beyond me, and I’m plagued with my own depression, anxieyy, etc throughout everyday life.

There’s also the mathematician dude who LOVED his meth (or maybe just amphetamine?). Anyway, he took/used it so much that his colleagues or something thought he was an addict, they made a bet, and the speedy mathematician won it, then went right back to using for his studies. Saying the only bad thing was that they set mathematics back a month. Or however it goes.

I believe addiction is both a disease in and of itself, but also that it’s a symptom of side effect of other mental health disorders. Then your drug of choice ends up being what’s usually easily accessible. Or whatever your brain chemistry says “dude that makes me so hard”

Then we could also just look it up and see what psychology thinks…

I’ve seen episodes where the boyfriend/husband enables it and gets upset when they try and lose weight. How sickening that you would rather have your other like that and at risk of all the diseases and complications than start a road to becoming healthy. I find that show pretty interesting

@“SouthernCompounding” oh how am I so late to the fuckin party. Literally had a coworker tell me she was going to over eaters anonymous. She has trigger foods (hers is mashed potatoes ?) and these foods “make” them not be able to control themselves. It’s called fuckin self control. No one made you put that needle in your arm, chug that vodka, eat the Oreo or mashed potatoes. We are a society on victimizing the weak. Labeling it as a disease instead of showing some tough fuckin love and telling them how it really is. If you don’t support these “addicts with a disease” than you’re insensitive and a non supporter. We have to congratulate every person in “recovery” when the reality is it’s a false facade out on to trick them into being praised and victimized because of their diseases. Makes me sick. I know there are exceptions in every area but in a generalization this is how I feel.

Everyone make sure to get extra chocolate for Valentine’s Day. ?
