Just took me a week and a half to get verified on cashapp…
Im curious about blockchain. Its where ive got my coin at the moment
Yasman, your coins are “safe” on that wallet right now. You are following the correct procedure:
  1. Buy BTC from an exchange
  2. Send that BTC to your private wallet
  3. Send BTC from your private wallet to your sources private wallet
Never send any cryptocurrency from an exchange to a supplier (or any 3rd party). It kills your anonymity if you skip step #2. Remember, when you signed up for coinbase/gemini/cash-ap/whatever you provided identification tying you to that BTC wallet. If your supplier ever gives up his wallet password (on purpose or coerced or court order) they now have a digital trail directly to your exchange account. This would be bad for you.

People think BTC is anonymous, nothing is further from the truth. BTC is a public distributed ledger. Every BTC transaction from day-1 is visible to anyone with an Internet connection. If I know your BTC address, I can see every transaction that your address ever made. I can see how much BTC you have at that address and who sent it to you. Now there are ways to make YOURSELF anonymous and that is what you have to do to protect yourself. To make yourself anonymous you need to (among other things*) use a wallet somewhere that isn’t “tied” to your name anywhere.

My issue with the blockchain wallet is that it wants to tie your wallet to an email, phone number, and if you continue verification, a picture of your ID. This, in my opinion, is unacceptable. There is no reason for a personal crypto wallet to follow KYC (know your customer) practices. I would never use a wallet that had these requirements as I cannot think of any reason to have to give any private information at all to use my personal wallet.

Another thing I noticed that my buddy does, and I hate this, is he uses the same BTC address all the time. If you send BTC to a source once, then later on the 2nd order they give you the same receiving address, we have a problem… Any modern wallet has (or shoud have) the capability to create a new address for the same wallet. Best practices say that anytime BTC comes into a wallet, then leaves the wallet, the address should change. You can send 1,000 different receiving addresses to 1,000 different people, and they all point to the same wallet. This is, in my opinion, the second most important procedure to help create anonymity.
So with blockchain theyre going to want photo id to send my coin to another wallet? Definitely defeats the purpose…

Back you you Yamsan… Like I said, your coins are safe, what I would suggest is to create a wallet somewhere that you don’t have to sign up for. I use coinomi, there are more popular ones that I need to try out like: Enjin, mycelium, Electrum.

Personally I use a Ledger nano S to hold the bulk of my crypto and I put a few hundred dollars worth at a time onto my mobile wallet. When I get low on funds I send money from the Ledger to my mobile wallet again.

I am certainly no expert, but after getting rolled with Mt. Gox and bitgrail, I decided to keep as much control as possible over my “money”. Once I saw Roger Ver helped create blockchain.info/blockchain.com I certainly will never use it. He has a history with crypto and it’s not a good one. You can google him if you are interested…

No problem bro, feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all. I know this stuff is a bit hard to wrap your head around…

also sorry I went off on a bit of a tangent up there, but I think it’s important for people to understand what they are actually doing and use the correct protocols…

Dude, quit spreading bullshit. Blockchain wallet does not require a goddamn ID. They want an ID for shit like their stupid XLM giveaways. Also why are you just over complicating the fuck out of this…? If you want to be super extra ultra safe and secure (lulz), you keep your money in XMR (monero). When you need to send bitcoin, you use https://xmr.to to INSTANTLY pay a BTC wallet, NO fees. Christ. Your overly dramatic and “extremely logical” methods prove to be inadequate and unnecessary. Ain’t nobody have to to make new fuckin wallets for every transaction, just send use xmr and they will pay them BTC…

Block chain wants me to verify info only if I’m buying and selling BTC thru them. But if I use the cash app and transfer to block chain wallet. No verification needed. So yea they want u to verify if u are buying thru them.

…and nobody said anything about creating new wallets for everything. You simply hit the button that says “New address” in your existing wallet.

I’m curious why you are using the www.blockchain.com wallet? From what i’m reading you need to create an account with them, and they have copies of your private keys… This is sorta a huge no-no in the cryptocurrency world. Nobody should have access to your private keys except you. I’ll do a little research to confirm this is really the case…
did u find anything on this? a better wallet maybe? although I’ve heard of almost everyone using blockchain so it should be good, also u don’t need to provide ID unless ur buying from them.

This is not the case and @“BORFT” is highly highly misinformed on all aspects of crypto and privacy. Fuck, blockchain does NOT need a damn ID unless you are using their exchanges or buying BTC via whatever the fuck method they have linked.

I already made borft look like a jackass in my post above.

Not a huge fan of coinbase. Takes 20 days to be able to send your funds outside of coinbase. I prefer either a local bitcoin atm (although the fees can be as high as 12% so watch out) or using the cash app. If your’re going to use coinbase MAKE SURE to never send bitcoin using the app, they will deactivate your account. Always send to a secondary wallet such as blockchain first, then send the coins to the sources bitcoin address. Hope this helps
how do you do it without coinbase just use a random blockchain? that’s the route i plan to go, atm >something>to source on tails. just gotta figure out what the something is so i can send amounts

He ment never send funds from coinbase to a source, not from the app itself. You guys are just LOL. Paying those ATM fees. I wrote a sticky on what to do in the world of crypto. I’ll write a new thread tonight about crypto/xmr and how to send ultra super duper secure invisible transactions (like it fucking matters, I just enjoy the technology so I know a decent bit about it…).

Ya I just found your sticky yesterday, interesting stuff. Once I found your sticky I was able to find alot more info on google on how all that stuff works aand its vulnerabilities. atm fees aren’t that huge. 10-15% if you were making a massive order than ya atm fees would blow. Why do you say it doesn’t matter though? Sure no matter how deep down the rabbit hole you go they might get you and its hella unlikely that they will want an end user but it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and safe haha like a bear excpt the cave has a back and side entrance I don’t know about lol.

whats your favorite method rn.
