Blood Work - High estradiol or within range for TRT use?

Had some blood work done and my estradiol came back high (64 pg/mL), but I know that people often have high estradiol when they are on TRT since the ratio is more important than the individual reading.

Also I was interested to see my testosterone was only 567 ng/dL, which I know is average but for someone on TRT it seems low. Blood work was done on an injection day, but the blood work was taken prior to my shot. I take 100mg of Test - C every 4 days. Should I change my protocol to get my bloods more level?

Any insight would be appreciated! Thank you!

Here are screenshots of my bloodwork for the full view.

Note:
I know my TSH is high, I already emailed my Dr about upping my thyroid meds. Unfortunately she is very anti-TRT so she wouldn’t be any help on any of the other stuff (fucking VA docs).

I forgot to mention that I do have 1mg tabs of pharmaceutical anastrozole on hand, but have not been taking it since my past labs my estradiol was within normal range.

Honestly to me your test levels seem fine. If im understanding you correctly, it had been 4 days since your last shot, and you were due a shot later that day. Now of course everyone metabolizes drugs differently, but its safe to assume that your test levels on injection day are going to be at their lowest, so your 500ng/dl that day was probably the lowest it will be in the week, and following your next shot, its safe to assume it would be higher again (unless your gear is bunk of course).
As for the slightly high estradiol, it kinda depends on your goals and how you feel. If your not super watery, low sex drive, sensitive nipples (or any of the other symptoms of high estradiol), me personally I would keep an eye on it but at that level I would not take an AI. Also, I dont know if you have physique/strength goals, but e2 is incredibly anabolic. Many people make grain gains while having slightly elevated e2. Thats why some of the drugs that carry estrogenic activity are some of the most potent.

@kai96

Thank you so much for your insight!

Right now I am having some side effects, but I want to figure out my TSH first to see if it is related to that. My PCP at the VA is ordering labs for me to get it rechecked this week to see if I need to up my thyroid meds.

Edit:
Side effects are (in order from greatest to smallest impact to daily life):

  • trouble falling asleep and staying asleep (i wake up 4-5 times every night)
  • motivation is real low for most things, including hobbies, gym, diet, being active. I have to really force myself to do most things right now - but I still do them
  • craving carbs and sugar like a mother fucker
  • libido is lower than normal, but still active
  • tired throughout the day - but again I am not sleeping well

@trt37beef no worries ! Also, while hormone imbalances could cause all of the above, they may not be. Other things like diet, stress, recent weight gain/loss or also some things that jump to mind/

@trt37beef you could try popping 12.5 mg Aromasin and see how you feel over the next few days. Those side effects sound like what happens when my estrogen is a bit high.

@mikealstott I only have 1mg anastrozole tabs on hand. I am getting my bloodwork done again tomorrow through the VA. Will see what that shows before I start popping pills.

I do best without an AI on every other day injections of test. You might try that. Also, e2 tests aren’t very accurate unless you are paying for the ultra sensitive LC/MS test. If you aren’t having any estrogen sides like sensitive nipples, can’t keep an erection, etc. then I wouldn’t worry about it. At the very least, I would get retested before I started the AI. You really shouldn’t need one at that dose. Personally, I would want my testosterone blood levels to be higher, but I would get the estrogen issue straightened out before you adjust your dose.

@lbeck27 Thank you for your insight.

When you say you would want to see your test numbers higher, are you referring to mine? It was 567 on an injection day prior to my injection.

In the past when I did blood work 2 days after my injection (injection on 8/29, labs on 8/31) and my test was at 1231, at the same dosage and same source and same batch from that source as current. At that time my Estradiol reading was 57.1.

@TRT37BEEF the bottom line is you will need to experiment to see what works best for you. maybe having above average E2 is not as good as having it a little bit lower for yourself. experiment and see for yourself and then you will be able to determine an dial in your own dosages. using a little bit of AI on cruise is not that big of deal despite what everyone says on the internet. I don’t give a fuck if “estrogen is anabolic tho bro” if I can’t sleep, feel tired all the time, and my libido is shit.
