Nice writeup Jeff…can’t upstage that but I did some brewing myself last night - +1 for bottle top filters

What brand of bottle top filter is that?

Had a few guys recently recommend not using the PES membranes. Look into getting nylon membranes. Supposedly the solvents can eat thru the PES. Think that was the problem I was having with the Tren.
Good info bro, thanks - maybe that’s why people are saying bottle top filters = fiber risk?

I’m not sure but I noticed that PTFE, PVFD, n nylon all hold up against the BA. I’m still doing some digging on the BB, EO, n Guac just in case I ever brew something that requires it.

Also need to watch the heat. Make sure the brew has cooled enough that it doesn’t melt the membrane.

I have a quick question, can you add the BB/BA and the oil and just heat it up until it dissolves or you have to wait and add the oil after the gear is dissolved
Jeffg353" pid='6381' dateline='1523216535:
Step by step
  1. All surfaces wiped down with cavi-cide cleaner. Includes work table, vial crimper, n outside of solvent/oil bottles.
https://www.medical-and-lab-supplies.com/sterlization-items/cavicide-surface-disinfectant-wipes.html
  1. All glassware (vials, media bottles, graduated cylinders, stir rods) magnetic stir bars n rubbe/silicon stoppers r washed in an Alconox solution.
Alconox Detergent Cleaning Concentrate 4 lb. Container https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000WU828/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kyMYAbKCP5QBS
  1. Rinsed 2×s in distilled water. Set up 2 seperate bins of distilled water. Go from alconox wash to 1st bin of distilled water then to 2nd bin of distilled water. Can usually find it at local grocery store.
  2. From distilled water rinse everything goes into alcohol bath.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/171634297043
  1. From there I place it into 400°F oven for 45-60 min.
  2. From oven everything goes into autoclave
Found one on eBay for descent price
  1. Cover the opening of all glass with tinfoil to help keep out dust, dirt, etc.
  2. In beaker add required BA/BB n raws. Slowly add heat if necessary. Keep tinfoil covering opening to keep shit out of brew.
  3. Once raws dissolve add required amount of oil.

  4. I have a hot plate magnetic stirrer combo. So I use that to stir once oil is added.

Found it on eBay
  1. After a few minutes of stirring I let oil slowly cool a little.
  2. Set up filter to vacuum pump (eBay)

I normally use a media bottle attached to bottle top filter.

If not…n u use the cheap plastic container this can happen if pump is too strong.

Can also use a brake bleeder kits hand pump instead of an electric pump. Can find on eBay, amazon, or try Alibaba site.

Think that about covers it

He was doing unapproved giveaways and unapproved domestic/discounted Caber sales to my knowledge, but don’t mark my words on that. Obviously his intent was pure and he always followed through, but the rules strictly prohibit it.
