Help with mail issue

I sent a friend 2 bottles via USPS. Ive done it plenty of times with no issues. The problem is my dunce friend gave me the incorrect zip code for that city this time. I noticed later after it was sent and went back to the PO, they told me it would most likely get there and only way to stop it would be to do a package intercept which required me using my CC online and paying $15. Not wanting to give them my info, I figured id see if it made it.

A week later my friend checked tracking and it’s being returned to sender. I was smart enough to use a return address that couldn’t be linked to me - it goes to an strip plaza but there is no suite number to deliver to so I’m assuming now it will go to the dead letter office. I wasnt too worried until I read they eventually open it to try and deliver the items… my buddy is the one who’s mostly worried because it is his correct mailing info.

Anyone have an input on what to do next? Maybe a source can chime in on what to do in this case.

Should I have him pay the 15$ to try and redirect it?

Or dont worry since it’s so small?

Any input is apprecaited, feeling a little unnerved about the situation.

I wouldn’t worry about it. They aren’t opening an investigation on this one, bud.
