I’m a lifetime drainer.
Some data points to those over 40 (that’s me) having much more problems with AAS induced high hct.
I’ve had hct as high as 68%, I drain off 500cc every month. Found a source of 19g butterfly needles that are dirt cheap without safety devices that get the job done much easier then the 21g I was using before.
My symptoms of high hct: high bp, headache, red swollen extremities(my lower legs turn red if I don’t drain every month).
At the moment I use calcium channel blockers, sometimes ACE inhibitors to control my bp as well. Don’t use HCTZ as this will dehydrate which is exactly the opposite of what you want to do to keep plasma volume up, also they make you feel like shit.
For those under the care of a physician, this is a deal breaker, doctors withdraw treatment until your hct is lowered and often times they refuse to help you in your goals.
Only thing you need to do besides draining is taking a vitamin with 18mg of iron every day to make sure ferritin levels don’t drop overtime. It takes about three weeks of supplementation to replace the iron lost in 500cc of whole blood.
Blood pressure is something you need to keep your eye on everyday, it wrecks your entire body overtime if you don’t manage it. So eat a low sodium diet, don’t eat anything with added salt, stick with veggies, fruits, and lean meats, stay away from packaged and canned crap with added salt.
