How much to eat on a cycle?

I am about to start my first steroid cycle after the gyms open up. I see great advice here on how much gear to use for a cycle. However don’t see a lot of information on how much you should eat while on cycle as opposed to natural. My goal is to lean bulk as much as possible. My maintenance calories is 2500 natural. The gear increases you metabolism and so I thought it would be a good question to ask

Stats
5’7" 28 170lbs

Cycle -
300mg/week test e 1-14 weeks
50mg Anavar 10-16 weeks
PCT - Clomid and Nolva 16-20 weeks
HCG - Should I be using it the last few weeks of my cycle?

Everyone will have differing opinions. I target maintenance +300 calories. I don’t believe in dirty bulking so I prefer only lean gains. As I have grown, so has maintenance calories. It also depends on what ur macros are now. I am fairly low carb anyway so my surplus is primarily protein and healthy fats… I would make sure that your surplus calories are clean. 300 calories from a candy bar is entirely different than 300 calories of protein.

Absolutely. MPS can only occur at a certain rate even with gear . It still takes time to grow quality lean muscle. You may find 500 calorie surplus works… but for me, 300 works well. I don’t have anything but anecdotal evidence to support my opinion. But that’s been my experience. I have tried running higher surpluses on cycles but in the end, it just added more weight I had to cut to lean back out. If you are looking for a less defined more bulky look, then of course you can run higher surplus… it’s more about your goals and trial and error on your own.

I was gonna say maintenance plus 500cals. Make sure at least 1 gram of protien per lb of bodyweight min. Break down carbs and fats however u want. If starting to put on too much fat back down. But you do t want to cut yourself short either. I would rather u start a little high than too low and sacrifice gains. But many ways to skin a cat as I always say.

Dial up or down in increments of 250 calories and watch the scale. If you throw the kitchen sink at it, ie 500+ calories initially you’ll likely store it as fat.

You know your own body best. Go by how things feel. If I pick up 10-12lb and my belt size is still cinched way down I know I’m doing it right
