Ok I’m not sure if I’m the only one with this problem however my gym clothes, specifically my shirts, I can not for the life of me get this faint, musty BO smell out of them. I’ve tried all sorts of things and even bleaching them but it doesn’t work. It does but not really, and if don’t bleach them regularly this smells gets stronger and stronger. Anyone have experience with something like this or any tips?

Sounds like it’s time to turn those babys into cut offs.

But on a constructive note. I’ve had the problem in the past. You wouldn’t think it but it’s common for your body to carry and excrete bacteria via your swet. This can sit in your clothes even after washing. They make special detergents which I use and works. You can also try some over the counters that will take care of the route cause.

Jay beat me to it…. IME once that must smell gets into the fabric, it is over. The only suggestion I can make is to make sure u don’t leave the gym clothes balled up and damp from sweat. I got in habit of hanging my sweaty gym clothes to air dry before putting them in hamper and that seems to help a lot.

Throw a few cups of white vinegar in the washer with them. Total game changer, your clothes will never smell again.

@Jay I’m thinking more like cut off crop tops v necks lol. What special detergent do you use? The weird thing is that this has only started in past few months. I’ve been lifting for a few years at this point and have never had this happen.

@MrMetal Nope, I have one too! I pour mine in the prewash (with prewash turned on) or bleach and run an extra rinse cycle at the end. You could always opt to just soak the clothes in vinegar in the sink and then throw them into the wash if you are hesitant. If anything I’d think the vinegar would be a good thing for cleaning/sanitizing the machine, too.

@MrMetal dude don’t even joke about guy crop tops. I’ve been seeing fuckbois and social influencers pushing them. Swear it’s gonna be a thing in a year.

I use ‘sport’ detergent and usually an enzyme based laundry additive like oxyclean. I can never stick to a certain brand.

What that dude said about white vinegar is a great suggestion though and I would defo recommend trying that first it being the cheaper route. It also helps preserve the coloring in fabric aswell. You could also try soaking your clothes in vinegar overnight before washing. Make sure to dilute it though as vinegar is acidic and can damage clothes on direct contact. Good idea to dilute before pouring into your washing machine too.
