I deposited money into my coinbase account but they have put a 16 day hold on it until I can send bitcoin.

Cashapp doesn’t have an instant approval, but it’s much faster than coinbase.

It will never be ‘instant’ because the transaction has to be confirmed on the blockchain

Cashup you can buy very quickly then transfer to a wallet like blockchain

Is this a debit card from your bank or a debit card you opened online? If it is a debit card you opened online which one is it?
Thanks

Can you also send the bitcoin instantly once you attach your debit card?
Thanks.

@“arwen” its called “chime” its super easy to set up. Costs $5 to deposit cash. Ther isnt a walk in branch, its an online bank account. Pretty self explanatory, im sure itll fix your issue.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Seems I am going to need to add my debit card to my Coinbase account to send bitcoin instantly. Having to wait 16 days is too long.

I have multiple funding sources set up on Coinbase and still have that kind of wait if I want to purchase. I stopped using them unless I can plan far enough ahead. CIM is my preferred method, now.

That won’t affect the verification process as far as I know. It took the same amount of time for me and I attached it to a debit card from the getgo.

The good news is once you have gone through it you won’t have to again.

And again, coinbase has a 72hour max verification process.

So even if you use a debit card with Coinbase you still have to wait the 16 days to send bitcoin just like you do with a bank account?

Yes. And sorry I meant “Cashapp has a max 72hour verification process.”

Thanks everyone for the help. I really should have researched holding periods with Coinbase before I deposited funds.
After confirming with Coinbase support that there is no holding period with debit cards I have added mine and am now able to send bitcoin instantly.

What’s CIM?

Also, @“arwen” , you can deposit “Cash” into your Coinbase account and in approximately 5 days you will get an email saying your funds have cleared. Then you can buy your BTC, have it in minutes, and send it instantly. This avoids fluctuation.

FYI, Coinbase doesn’t give a shit about your anonymity. They are basically a corporate bank. So if it’s a serious concern, best to send to an intermediary BTC wallet, then send again. Or use a different BTC wallet altogether.

Someone please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Could you explain this further? The only option Coinbase gives for depositing money into the “wallet” is to link a bank account and then withdraw it from there. Even though the funds cleared in a few days I still have to wait 16 days to send bitcoin using this method.

Yep, you link your bank account, then you can deposit into your “cash” wallet. It will clear in about 5 days, you’ll get an email, then you can buy BTC with your cash instantly and also send it instantly. Or you can use a debit card, like the other guy said.
