Are you familiar with insulin metabolism? Your probably benefit from studying a little bit before calling my post "misinformation"

The two waves or "half lives" as I've referred to here are known as "onset" and "peak duration of action"

Please educate yourself.

What? did you reply to the wrong comment?

People who have bought from Walmart, did they ask any follow up questions or hassle you? Can I just go in and ask for a vial or two of relion novolin r or are they gonna want me to prove I'm diabetic and ask 50 questions about insurance and proof and what not? Thanks

Depends on the state, But generally no they don't ask for proof if it's otc in your state. Personally I wouldn't jump through hoops to get R insulin which will make you feel like shit all day and add unnecessary fat. It's incredibly cheap to get Humalog or novorapid. I pay $22 a pen for 300iu novorapid pen. No questions asked.

I got a vial from Walmart of R insulin yesterday. Was easy. They didn't ask a thing. I was going to run the updated Mike Arnold ultimate insulin protocol where you work up to 15iu 15 minute pre-workout, then sip on a shake with 100g simple carbs and 40-60g protein, and have a solid meal of about half that two hours later.

My other option i was thinking about is to try lantus from cosmicpct. Maybe work up to 30iu in the morning during a bulk.

I'd recommend you start low. People respond differently to insulin, I need 20g carbs per iu or I go below 70 and start getting shaky.

Lantus is the way to go. R insulin will just make you fat

I’m curious, why do you feel like R insulin will make you fat? Personally, I use 5iu pre and post of humalog on most days with good results.

Because I got fat on it lol. It's very long acting so you'll be over eating trying to keep your BS stable. Also you don't want a fatty meal after taking insulin. So guys on short acting insulin don't eat fatty meals during that 2-4hrs. If you're on R you'll be storing a lot of fat, during that 8+hrs. Unless you eat zero fat.

I get that 100%. For some reason I assumed you meant fast acting as R’s first peak comes on relatively quick; but that makes total sense.

That being said, even though lantus doesn’t spike your insulin, couldn’t the same theory be applied? This is one of those reasons I prefer humalog because I have the most control.

What kind of lantus protocol do you recommend? I'll have to do some research on it for sure. I know Paul Barnett likes lantus. Chase Irons has a YouTube video where he recommends lantus at 1 unit per 20g carbs but I'm not sure if you would run it daily or just a few days a week. Or only a few months at a time? I do have semaglutide and tirzepatide to stay insulin sensitive. I would prefer to use one of those over metformin. I wonder if that insulin book by vigorous Steve is worth the price or if it's just some minimal information bs cash grab. I made the mistake of getting the hgh book by Kurt havens. Total waste even with a 20% discount. I knew more than the book and it doesn't even discuss protocols or amounts

That is an incredibly poor protocol, like almost all insulin protocols.

Take as much insulin as your current nutrition plan calls for. 1iu per 20g of carbs for your pre/intra/Post workout nutrition plan.

Do NOT take an arbitrary amount of insulin and then match your carbs to that number. That is how you get fat using insulin.

Think about it, why would you consume hundreds of extra calories a day? Especially if you are already in a surplus. Consuming extra calories beyond your needed growth surplus is exactly how people get fat. Insulin or not.

The most logical lantus protocol is just to administer as much lantus as needed to cover your daily nutrition without going hypoglycemic.

I personally would recommend that you use it on training days only when your nutrition demands are higher than your rest days.

If you are currently monitoring your blood sugar and you are not seeing a rise in fasting blood glucose from your current nutrition plan, there isn't a huge utility in adding insulin IMO.
