Low platelet count?

Had blood work done and my platelet count is low. Normal range is 140-400 thousand/uL and my count was 138 this time, so not super low, but still low. I looked at my last lab work and it was 142, so not a significant difference, but still on the lower side of normal.

Any idea what would cause this? Or should I talk to a doctor?

No. Not even bat an eyelash at that number. 2 below means literally nothing.

Not only that but it’s just a snapshot in time. Any real concern would need to be a visible and frequent pattern.

to add on to what Capt said …. Consider how close you are to your previous labs. It shows a consistency for your body. Too many people focus on the reference range and not what’s normal for their own bodies!
