Maintenance phase if you B&C

I got a dumb question…

how important are the maintenance phases if you blast and cruise?

I understand the concept that if you bulk for 12-16 weeks on blast, you do not want to go right into a cut because you risk losing some of the new gains. So the idea is to go into a maintenance phase for a month so your body recognizes it’s new “set weight”

Is this true?

Additionally, if you drop down to a high cruise (150-300/wk) of test after you cycle, are you really at risk to lose your gains? Wouldn’t the exogenous test prevent any catabolism?

I am wrapping up my bulk and went went pretty calorie heavy at the end, I am eager to get some of the extra fat off (live and learn).

Give me your thoughts juicy bros! Do I just stay fluffy for the extra month after cycle or can I start to slowly begin my calorie deficit and have faith the cruise test will keep my gains without eating at maintenance for a while?

thanks for any input!!

There is a lot of pros who believe this. As they have experience and have seen most pros believe this I can’t argue against it. It does make some sense however you will lose, glycogen, energy, fullness, etc when going to a cruise. The pros are saying to go on a cruise but push the calories you eat to be the same while on blast so you don’t lose weight and push past that weight barrier on the next blast. This is a strategy they use to push past weight plateaus.

I can see this, so essentially you are continuing a calorie surplus and gaining to compensate for the loss of glycogen storage from the blast?
I never even considered it like that. I figured it meant if your maintenance calories is 3500, and you are bulking on 4000+,
after cycle drop back down to 3500 for a month. Then begin your calorie deficit.

I am personally not passed my genetic limit yet, so I wonder if the maintenance phase is less/more important?
I could see if you’re trying hard to push past it, hanging on to your mass is even harder than ever.

this homeless guy i know says if your protein is high during low calorie, you will lose mostly water and sugar weight. and you gotta stay working out hard with heavy weight or whatever got you there. you will build with high protein and lower calorie. best to cut while on blast. then cruise into your cruise with your calories all controlled already and your workouts dialed in. the blast was the fun part, the work begins on cruise. stay focused and motivated on cruise to keep gains…it aint bulk and cut…its max 15-17% bodyfat year round with cuts whenever you want abs. 15% bf is plenty to make gains if protein is high.
