Hello and welcome to the Official Old Guys Thread!

I have seen quite a few older lifters joining the forumn lately. I thought I would create a spot where we can discuss issues specific to our age range where we can provide some individual support and bust some freaking chops.

This is our spot for everyone 40+ who's into bodybuilding, PEDs, and living a healthy lifestyle. It's more than just lifting weights; it's about balancing our fitness goals with family, career, and all the other aspects of life.

Here's what we'll focus on:

  • PEDs and Supplements: Finding what's effective and safe for our age.
  • Training Techniques: Share workouts that fit into our busy schedules.
  • Nutrition & Health: Tips on eating right for muscle and overall wellness.
  • Balancing Act: Managing fitness, family, and career. Let's discuss how we juggle it all.
Whether you're a long-time bodybuilder or just getting into it, this thread is where we can support and learn from each other. Let's keep the conversation positive and constructive.

Can't wait to exchange ideas and experiences with you all!

Great great idea and thoughts.

The huge thing for me is the balancing act. Between family and... The grandkids, it gets rough following a strict routine. I have to eat what's cooked(it's not necessarily unhealthy), get ice cream with the grandkids, work and obviously squeeze in the gym. I hate saying the age group I'm in because I don't feel like I'm in my 50's and certainly don't look it the part.

This....so I am 50 with a 38 year old wife. Kids 11 and 8. Between sports, band, choir, scouts, and careers, diet often comes last. So I often rely on intermittent fasting to keep calories in a reasonable range which is shit for trying to build muscle. To get anywhere close to protein goals, whey shakes are a must. Family life also means early morning workouts (up at 4 and in the gym by 5) is the only way to train reliably but that affects sleep....Arrggghh.

Your very mature for your age that is why we invited you. Fuck...I don't know. Somewhere I picked up that you were ready to hang out with the old guys. LOL.

2.5 IUs of HGH most days (averaging 5-6 days per week.) IGF-1 from 181 to 269. Seems underwhelming but I will say I am rounding out bit and my wife says that my "peptides" are making my skin softer. Thoughts?

I'm really curious about hgh, being I'm older it seems like it could be easier on my body rather than stack other compounds. I need to do research.

My igf1 runs pretty high already, like 350-500. 511 was the highest I've had. It makes me wonder if I'm already doing fine without hgh if the goal is to raise igf1.

Lol, I’ll take the invite. Always nice to be apart of the community.

Also yea, GH is gonna help your skin quite a bit.

Man I’d suggest every older guy to run it. Not even high, 2-3 iu a day. See how it benefits you.

I like it. It has been a low risk way for me to make some gains. Limited side effects with the exception of some numbness in hands which I have suffered from carpal tunnel in the past. Also, I have some positive movement on an ongoing case of bicep tendonitis which has resolved about 80% after 6 montsh of being trashed. I am jealous of your IGF-1.

Now with GH, I traditionally just blocked it out of my mind even to consider it. Maybe 20 years ago when I heard some people talking about it, it was cost prohibitive. I was hearing they were in the thousands. So it was something I never considered even researching.

If I Google, the results just become overwhelming. I have a few questions. Excuse if there's some possible myths.

Is it worth taking for slight gains? I'm looking at this on a harm reduction standpoint. Just like I don't want to take grams of compounds a week.

What's a safe dose or range to be in for an extended period of time?

Is there a blood test like testing for testosterone levels?

Is the whole head growing and gut bloat true? I know someone that swears he doesn't take anything, but I've watched his head grow over the years.

Different color tops? Sounds like a crack movie talking about the different tops. Is there a difference between them?

I believed it to be less harmful than most low dose steroids, except Testosterone. It appears the big risk is if you are somone who may have an early stage cancer, this theoritically could cause increased growth and replication of the cancer cells (which is a huge risk.) However, millions of people have used this substance and it is widely prescribed legally around the world. It is widely accepted as a safe and reliable medication across the world in many countries. Some countries it is over the counter from what I understand.

Some feedback from my research:
  • Growth Hormone and downstream IGF-1 can be tested through simple lab tests. I just had mine tested recently.
  • Acromegaly typically results from heavy, long-term use; small doses (a few IUs per day) don't seem to contribute to this condition.
  • Gut bloat also seems linked to heavy usage and specific feeding schedules during growth phases (6-8 meals a day.). One Observation: Top competitors using heavy doses still have thin waists.
  • Cost: High-quality Growth Hormone available from Chinese manufacturers at around $80.00 for a 150 IU kit; price reductions possible with bulk purchases or specials.
  • The significance of top colors: They offer little to no assurance regarding batch number, purity, dimmer, or quantity; cap colors are largely a myth when it comes to product quality and marketing scheme (in my opinion.) I have put together an article addressing this in another forum (not PED related.) Best practice: Incorporate testing costs into purchase planning and buy in quantities that justify these costs.

Goddammit you maniac you've sold me. I've been on the fence for a while about running a couple IU a day. I ran it for a few months back in the day but it was so expensive back then I just kind of gave up. Plus I was running high doses of test and deca and the GH added made me so bloated I felt like the marshmallow man. I still have yet to start even pinning my test.

Adding in a few more old guys located in similar threads to join the fun. Would love your input, feedback, and any insight you have.

Yep, I'm just a hair over 40. But I don't feel it like some guys do. I'm bigger and stronger then I've ever been, and my health metrics are great as well. I hired Justin Harris this year to coach me to my first show. I'm giving it a go before I actually start to feel the effects of being old. As of now, my foot is fully on the gas and there's no old guy bullshit for me to worry about.
