OTC acne remedies?

Give me your best acne remedies. I am getting horrible cystic acne on my chest, arms, and back and want my skin to clear up as fast as possible. I’d rather not do accutane because of the terrible sides I’ve heard.

If it’s truly cystic acne and it’s truly horrible - I’d go accutane to knock it out and don’t pick the bumps. The last thing you want is scarring. I know you don’t like the idea of accutane but that’s exactly what I’d do.

If you still have issues, I would go with 20mg/day of Accutane. Sides will be minimal and results are great. But I would not run an oral at the same time, unless you are able to run some TUDCA, because it could be harsh on your liver.

Lactic acid is the only thing I’ve found that immediate addresses cystic acne (apply directly to the cyst and it will either go away or come to a head within a day or two). Otherwise a regimen of retin-a plus low-dose accutane works wonders (10mg/day to start with, then taper down to 30mg/week or so once everything clears up). With accutane that low you probably won’t even see elevated liver enzymes (I don’t).

I have naturally oily skin, exfoliating with Oxy benzoyl peroxide has helped me out with my back, arms, and chest.

Mine gets really bad in the winter especially, I usually to a stand up tan once a month and it clears up 90% of it. Those oxy wipe pads from walmart help too

Tanning beds really clear up acne that good? Ive been dealing with acne ever since i dropped to my cruise dose, and its getting pretty bad on my upper body. The walmart BA soap bar isnt helping either

If it is cystic only Accutane can clear. 20-40 mg daily. 40 mg daily will work faster. Take with high fats to maximize absorption. Do not run with orals.

Tanning is more of a short-term cosmetic band-aid. Not gonna lie it does make me look better… but i think skincare practioners unanimously agree that its pretty bad for your skin in the long-run

Accutane definitely helped me with my cystic acne, I unfortunately would scratch my cysts in the shower and it would cause it to bleed. I’m dealing with red scaring now, I’m currently on Retin-A but if anybody has any tips to get rid of red scaring let a brother know.
