Should I tell my primary TRT doctor about extra Test I use?

I'm new here, I hope this question hasn't already been covered or isn't obvious, but here goes... About I year ago I go into the doctor for a some muslce weakness complaints (50 year old Male, never done any gear). My total testosterone was 130, so the Doc is like you need TRT ASAP. So away we go on TRT, 100mg cypionate per week. Everything is fucking great. Mind is clear, memory is better. Muscle pains are going away, life is way better. So a couple of months in I decide that more would be better, so I start taking 200mg cypionate per week (buying extra from an UGL on this forum). 200mg seems a little better on my symptoms and probably isn't too much: a little acne, it's a little harder to pee, blood pressure is little higher, but no real side effects. So I think somewhere between 100mg and 200mg per week is probably where I'll cruise indefinitely. So, do I be honest and tell my doctor that I take extra testosterone so he can advise me along the way? Or do I just take a little less when I know he is going to draw blood? Anyone have any experiences with their doctor they want to share? Thanks in advance.

Probably not, but it depends on your individual doc. Since you went there for other care, not TRT, I assume it's a primary care doc and not a TRT clinic. PCPs are often not cool with prescribing trt and yours could assume you're abusing it.

Also, I know you said basically no sides, but those are sides. And difficulty peeing is sketchy at a pretty low dose, you need to at least get your own labs or work with a clinician that will help you read them.

If you were fine at 100, then drop back down to it because there is zero reason for those sides at that blow level unless you are overweight, consuming excess sodium, red meat regularly and doing zero LISS cardio.

And go see a urologist about your prostate. It’s likely fine but you should not have experienced any enlargement after such a short time. They will likely give you some cialis and don’t let them prescribe you reductase inhibitors unless you are fully aware of the sides and the sides are no joke. Some people experience severe and/or permanent ED with those drugs.

If you have an enlarged prostate that eventually leads to a blockage, lots of options to restore flow and all are outpatient at this point.

Thanks for the info. Yes it was a primary care physician that put me on 100mg Cyp per week. Pee flow is good, it's just dribbles a little longer than desired at the end. They said my PSA levels were fine a few months ago (I might need general anethesia if they really want to check my prostate). All of my other blood work from the doctor office has little green checkboxes next to it. Yes, Cialis works wonders, but it can be distracting if you know what I mean, I'll definitely try a smaller amount every day for a while.

Don't tell your doctor. You'll risk him cutting you off totally and labeling your file as a drug seeker. Then question everything you tell him. Just like someone said before, go back down to 100. What's your testosterone levels based on your bloodwork? If it's within range and you felt better than 0, stick to that.

Dosing 100mg per week, total test was 600. Dosing 200mg per week total test was 1000. I kind of felt like 200mg per week was too much, so somewhere closer to 100mg is probably where I'll stay.

You're really lucky. I bet your insurance pays for it. My insurance would pay for it too but my doctor wasn't about it right from the beginning. At the end of the visit he reached over and felt my arm. Nodded his head no and said "look at that. You're in better shape than I am. You don't need it." Even though my numbers were below 200.

How big were those arms? I pay for the insurance, and it's just a matter of time before my rates go up.

As a physician myself I would have to say yes you should tell him and get the extra 50 from your metals Rx. The difference between 100 to 150 mg if test/wk would still be considered a trt replacement dose so why go through all the trouble if redefine it online and sneaking around??? It is always best to be honest with your Doctor they cannot monitor or help you if you are having serious side effects. Remember we are human, while there are many idiot physicians in practise they are intelligent individuals and usually know you are lying. When it comes to your health honesty is always the best quality.
Just think about this…what if we were not honest here ??
Good luck

But being honest could lead to one’s insurance company denying future medical procedures, especially if you aren’t on legal TRT.

Once it’s in your file, insurance company has access to the info…correct?

I’m not telling my doctors I’m using UGL test because I was tired of losing muscle at a total test of 400.

UGLs have a bad rap. I'm not putting down the medical industry. But they hear UGL, they'll think of some guy making it in his bathtub.

Maybe start taking 150 of the prescribed stuff and tell the doc you wanted to try it out and you felt better. Maybe he'll increase the script to 150.

My wife knows I'm on trt and even pins me when it's time for glutes. I peel off the label because it would be clear to her it's not from a pharmacy. I'd rather avoid the discussion.
