Hey fellow Canadians, where do you buy needles and syringes? I’m buying them from lifesupply but I’m looking for better alternatives

Go to Shoppers. They’re OTC. “Can I get X amount of X gauge needles and X CC syringes please”…

and then the person behind the counter will start to go for the insulin needles close by, you’ll say “nonono, the bigger detachable ones used to administer testosterone” and the pharmacist will ask their boss where they keep them, or go to a different storage location to grab them for you. (semi-kidding about this last bit but it happens more often than not)

edit: they can also order you entire boxes at a cheaper price than you’ll pay individually, and sharps containers are free so ask them for a large sized one while you’re there

Goddamn, so you have to admit to the pharmacist that you’re taking gear huh? I once asked for a sharps container and they wanted to look up my name to verify that I have a prescription for insulin before giving it to me 😦

Noooo lol, you don’t have to admit to anything. You can skip the part about testosterone, I just say that because they immediately understand what I mean when I specify what it’s being used for and I don’t care if they know that I take testosterone - it’s legal.

You just say “I get it OTC and I don’t have a prescription”. Insulin (humalog) doesn’t need a prescription. Needles don’t need a prescription. Syringes don’t need a prescription. Sharps containers don’t need a prescription.

If they refuse you a sharps container say “all good, I’ll just throw them uncapped into the trash then”. Only an absolute moron of a pharmacist would refuse somebody a safe disposal method for their needles.

No insulin in canada requires a script.

but yeah to add onto this, you can order online at buyneedles.ca for cheap prices, or get tben at a needle exchange. If I grab at an exchange I always leave a donation.

I’ve used surgo.com a couple times with no problems.

I used to get the BD 3cc syringe + 18g needle box and then a box of 25g 1" needles, about $35 list price.

Eventually I did just switch to going to the local pharmacy every few weeks and getting a half dozen or so needles at a time.

I also go to https://buyneedles.ca/ In regards to the pharmacy, nobody should ask you why, because the harm reduction model is part of the current mandate of the pharmacy associations. In addition, don’t be afraid to ask for a Sharps container. They should be free. You just lock the box when done then take it in. Nobody has ever asked me anything.

I just wanted to mention that in my experience buying needles from Shoppers is A LOT more expensive than any of the sites that people have listed here.
