Hey guys, when do you typically stop bulking and when you do, do you come off cycle or just go to TRT?

I’ve cut on cycle and I don’t like it, it feels like a waste of gear compared to bulking on cycle and actually building a ton of muscle.

My plan is to come off cycle and go down to TRT in early January, I’ve never done a cut where I’m completely shredded (sub 10% bf) but I’ve gotten close.

I’d just like to see what some of you guys do coming out of a bulk, timeframes and PEDs and stuff. Chime in if you have something that works well for you.

Current stats at end of bulk.
24 y/o
6’3
228lbs
Roughly 14-17% BF

Bulk till you look like shit cut till you feel like shit, in all seriousness, depending on your experiences and or compounds trt may be the way to go, though PCT sounds doable as well I had to come off trt due to some health problems regarding my stomach but tbh I would trt, that’s just me though

The saying goes, “bulk on blast, cut on cruise.” I do exactly that. I’m on Dr prescribed TRT @150mg/week, plenty to hold muscle, especially with TRT “add ons”(low dose NPP, maybe some proviron).

Was told if you want to be 250 lean , you have to bulk to at least 300lb then cut to 250. Same goes for any goal lb. If you want to be 220 bulk to 260.

@Bumpygooch ifbb pros. Anyone who competes amd wants to do good on there weight division like 212, they are very heavy in there off season and then cut to make weight. Facts .

@Musclehead34 thank you for pointing out that you gain weight on a “bulk,” as it wasn’t otherwise implicit. What you did is attach arbitrary numbers to it based on nothing. Bulk to 17% bodyfat(or when your abs disappear), cut down to 12% bodyfat(minimally) is concrete, bulk to 300 to be lean at 250 is arbitrary and subjective.

@Bumpygooch I really don’t know why I’m jumping in here but as the numbers go, there’s 17% between 250-300. If someone steps on stage at 3% body fat then the 300 would be 20% body fat in the off season. No side in the debate just adding depth to the numbers.

Don’t know if you’re bulking to compete or whatever.

Me, as someone to just lifts to look, and feel good, I usually do clean bulks with minimal calorie excess (500kcal usually, and higher carbs). If I was just aiming to get big as fuck though, I’d just bulk till I didn’t like how fat I got lol.

@DragonOrdnance pretty much, I bulk up to 1000 cal over maintenance, I stop when all I have left is the shadow of my abs, never place a number on it.

I try to stick to my plan, because the mind likes to play tricks on you. I go by the 35-45 kcal per kg of goal bodyweight, and get most of those kcals from good ol carbs, and keep fat in the range of 0.5gr - 0.75gr per kg of bodyweight. I don’t really track my weight, I prefer to track my skinfolds with a caliper. If I get over a certain amount of total milimeters (140 mm is my hard cut off point) I’m ending the diet, but most of the time, my course is over before I reach it.

Bodyweight once a week, but I really don’t care about that. Don’t have any weightclasses to worry about, just want to grow as much muscle on my frame as I can.
