I just realized I haven’t been to the dentist in 2 years. I brush my teeth everyday obviously along with flossing.

But recently been eating and having some sensitivity on one side. Then I went to check the last time I went to the dentist and it was two years ago lol. So I bet it’s a cavity.

How often do you guys go to the dentist ?

probably like a year but before that it was three lol
use sensodyne that shit works
I will look into that. I just usually pick up Colgate or whatever they got at the store.

My life is going by too fast. Could have sworn I was there some what recently maybe the last 6 months, until I checked and saw 2021.

I don't know where you're from and I don't want to know. But look up if you have any dentist schools near you. If not, look up if there's any colleges that teach dental hygienists. It's usually free or really cheap. The dentist schools will do work while the hygienists just do cleanings.

I visit the dentist once a year. Try using a water pik for flossing. Really gets everything out.
I use the little floss pickers like the 50 that come in a pack but they always are breaking need about 3 of them to do my whole mouth. Will look into a water pik

I came across something a few years ago that said places like Africa don’t even use toothpaste. Supposedly they use some tree bark or some tree stick, maybe bamboo? and clean it with that only, to get rid of the plaque. Supposedly you don’t need toothpaste. Water and a toothbrush brush will do, as long as you get rid of the plaque. I’ll be sticking with toothpaste, but always thought that was interesting

You don’t have dental insurance? I go twice a year for cleanings and a checkup. That’s a very typical routine now a days. Dental insurance through most employers is less than $5 a month… I think mine is like $2 a month.

Last time I went was around 2014. I brush and floss after every meal, so 5-6x a day lol. But I also rinse my face too at that time so I can cut down on acne.

I don't feel it's really necessary when you can buy most dental tools online. No I'm not saying give yourself a root canal but you can professionally clean your own teeth or glue your own crown.

I do have insurance so I could go if I really wanted. But I'm kind of a diy-er. I prefer it that way.

What’s the point of dental insurance if you aren’t gonna use it. That whole mindset makes absolutely zero sense. I doubt you use an ultrasonic tooth cleaner which will make your teeth feel night and day difference. You can clean your teeth as good as you claim but there will still be hard plaque build up whether in-between your gums or on your gum line that will require an ultrasonic chisel to remove it.
At the end of the day you pay for dental insurance which at least with my plan equates to around $2000 in coverage a year.

I grew up poor so that has always been my mindset, I prefer to do things myself. I don't see any plaque build-up on my teeth.

Y'all probably brush and floss TOO MUCH and will prematurely weather your teeth from the abrasion over time. Dentist who worked on me related it to a rock being worn down over years from natural erosion; Teeth are no different. If you sat and rubbed a brush on a rock for years you'd put a groove in it, same with your teeth. Find the softest thing you can, or just use your finger, and do not use much pressure. Also avoid the electric ones that spin, that's like taking a power sander to em. It may not bother you today, tomorrow, or a year from now but if you could compare the timelines over time you will have worn your teeth down much more with that electric brush than without it.

With all due respect I’m not sure you could get plaque out from hard to see places even with a dental mouth mirror or whatever. You should definitely go in just to make sure things aren’t a wreck that you don’t even notice since you only have one set of teeth and they don’t heel.

I had to go to a place that would not accept my dental insurence and to get X-rays and a cleaning it was about 200. It’s not super expensive if you don’t have dental insurence but through employers it’s like $5 max

Every 6 months. Dental insurance is something I should be more grateful for, it's kind of a big deal

This dental checkup talk is a bit nerve-wracking (pun intended)! I haven't been to the dentist in ages, and honestly, the whole process stresses me out.
Seeing some of the comments about implants on here is interesting though. I've been missing a couple of teeth for a while now, and it's definitely impacting my confidence. Dental implants seem like a good option, but also a big commitment.

Anyone here have experience with getting implants? Was the procedure scary? Is the recovery time long? I found this website https://jeffreygrossdds.com/services/implant-dentistry-lake-county-ohio/ about implant dentistry, but it would be great to hear real-life experiences too.

I've got an appointment on Thursday afternoon, can't wait. I do love freshly professionally cleaned teeth.

lol I go twice a year, but funny you said this. I went for my routine bi yearly checkup & the hygienist said I have great teeth, but I brush too hard. She gave a soft ass bristle brush, but I hate It. I like my teeth to actually feel clean, and I guess that’s my downfall because I should probably use less pressure. I just brush AM and when I go to bed though idk if that’s necessarily “too much” though.

About 10 yrs ago… I know, Im a barbarian.. but I haven’t had a cavity (or atleast any kind of sensitivity/ issues) since. Teeth look healthy, clean and are painless 🤷‍♂️. Before that it was 7 years. So once.. (actually a cleaning and a filling so twice) in the last 17 yrs.

After the first 7 yrs they complemented my teeth, minus the one cavity. Have good bone genetics I suppose…
