Anavar and Tren are two compounds which IMO should exclusively be used during a cutting phase.
This is because these are the only two AAS (as far as I’m aware) which antagonize the glucocorticoid receptor.
There are many things BESIDES testosterone which affect net muscle protein balance.
1) Androgen receptor activation upregulates muscle growth
2) Myostatin inhibits muscle growth
3) IGF-1/Insulin inhibits muscle breakdown/promotes anabolism
4) Glucocorticoid receptor activation by cortisol causes muscle breakdown
When you’re cutting, your body is going to release more cortisol than usual. Cortisol will bind to glucocorticoid receptors throughout the body including those on muscle tissue to induce catabolism.
Tren (and Anavar to a lesser extent), will compete for binding at these receptors. The result is greater lean body mass retention when cutting with these compounds.
I still don’t recommend Tren though for just about anyone. That shit is just way too toxic.
